Although you can study the itinerary in detail on the
Tour de France website to see if any of the stages are near your holiday destination, you may be pleased to know the 97th 'race' starts in Rotterdam on the 3rd July and ends in its usual frenzied spectacle on 25th July on the famous Champs Elysees in Paris.
Along the route, the twin-resort towns of Morzine & Avoriaz will play a key role in two stages of the mountain race. On Sunday 11th July, stage 8 will see the riders commence from the Station des Rousses, (which involves 2 high climbs) travel above Morzine through to Avoriaz for a ride of almost 190 kilometres.
A rest day in Morzine is set for Monday 12th July, allowing riders a well deserved break and for holidaymakers, it's a good opportunity to explore the area and view it's stunning scenery. There'll be time to enjoy the town's fine summer amenities or simply relax in the most beautiful Portes du Soleil region.
Starting stage 9 on Tuesday 13th July, riders push 204 kilometres from Morzine & Avoriaz towards Saint Jean de Maurienne, climbing through 4 passes en-route to stage 10, Chambery to Gap.
A more enjoyable way to stay at the event and enjoy the glorious mountain scenery is to use
holiday chalets in Morzine. Read more information on
